Overview

The Project Structural Welder/Fitter position involves performing welding of metal components for fabrication or repair of machine parts, plant equipment, and structures. This role is contingent upon contract award and requires working in a remote Arctic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding using knowledge of geometry and welding techniques.
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Clean or degrease weld joint or work piece.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts using various welding equipment.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform cleanup activities.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in structural welding or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must pass structural weld test upon offer.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be covered by Worley auto insurer.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification training can be provided if needed.

  • Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources.
  • Candidate must understand the site is approximately 840 miles from medical care.
  • Physical demands include standing for prolonged periods and working in harsh environments.
