Overview

The Mechanical Engineer II will design, develop, test, and analyze mechanical/electromechanical hardware products and systems for Human Space Flight and Military programs, supporting NASA/Aerospace/DoD customers. The role involves creating documentation and prototypes for various space-related applications.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and electromechanical systems for cargo and human-rated flight vehicles.
• Perform stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics analysis to ensure fit, form, and function.
• Maintain technical excellence for all tasks to ensure high-quality technical products.
• Conduct part tolerance analysis and understand thermal contraction/expansion impacts.
• Understand aerospace-grade material properties for lightweight, high-strength designs.
• Generate system documentation such as procedures and hazard analyses.
• Develop interface drawings for mechanical and thermal system interfaces.
• Design unique test fixtures and methods for testing programs.
• Present design concepts and details clearly in presentation formats.
• Perform technical and safety risk assessments and mitigation.
• Collaborate in a team environment with multi-functional groups.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 0-6 years of direct experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• CAD experience with Solidworks or Creo.
• US Citizenship required.
