Overview

The Mechanical Engineer position at Oceaneering involves assisting with small to medium-size projects by providing engineering deliverables such as design specifications and drawings, while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products primarily for the offshore energy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical challenges.
  • Read and interpret customer and industry specifications to meet requirements.
  • Provide customer-specific designs based on standard products.
  • Create part numbers and bills of materials in an ERP system.
  • Create manufacturing drawings for machined, forged or cast parts.
  • Create standard engineering specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Check drawings, specifications, procedures, and bills of material.
  • Perform design calculations.
  • Review finite element analysis results/reports.
  • Identify material and coating solutions.
  • Coordinate with offshore design office for work assignments.
  • Support product testing as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of technical procedures.
  • Interface with customers to understand project/design requirements.
  • Assist with planned/unplanned activities to ensure smooth department/site operations.
  • Support other functions for successful project execution.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of products and/or processes.
  • Support execution of product and/or process improvement projects.
  • Participate in HSE Awareness activities.
  • Ensure work-related concerns are reported to management.
  • Carry out work in accordance with Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • 0 to 2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of traditional stress analysis techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T and Tolerance stack-up.
  • General understanding of FEA.
  • Competent in related MS Office suite.
  • Experience with Solidworks and Mathcad.

Additional Information

  • This position requires daily onsite attendance; it is not a remote-work position.
  • The position is considered mainly office work but may require working in shop floor or other environments.
  • The work environment is almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
