Overview

Whirlwind Steel is a premier metal building manufacturer specializing in the design, fabrication, and delivery of top-quality metal structures. The Spray Painter is responsible for expertly applying protective primer and finishing coats to machines and products while ensuring quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Clean surfaces by removing grease, dirt, and other contaminants using materials such as lacquer thinner, turpentine, soap, and water.
  • Select and mix coating liquids to match desired colors and specifications using paddle or mechanical mixers.
  • Pour coating liquids into spray containers, connect spray guns to air hoses, and adjust sprayer valves and nozzles for optimal spray width and pressure.
  • Skillfully apply primers and finishing coats by directing the spray gun to ensure even coverage and quality finish.
  • Remove rust from metal surfaces using grinders, wire brushes, or steel wool as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Operate overhead cranes and monorail paint hoists to manage and position items for painting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts is essential.
  • Must pass a pulmonary fit test to meet safety and health standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Familiarity with industrial painting techniques and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
