Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, including production machines, under constant supervision. The role requires adherence to safety practices and company policies while performing various mechanical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Disassemble devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repair or replace defective parts in hydraulic equipment and other designated plant equipment.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricate and clean parts.
• Start devices to test their performance.
• Conduct daily inspection and record keeping of various pieces of plant equipment.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or two to five years of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical procedures.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors or managers.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Proficiency in monitoring equipment operating conditions and keeping records.
• Experience using hand tools.
