Overview

Emory University is a leading research university that seeks a Chiller Mechanic I to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs on Utility Plant water chillers and associated equipment. The role requires working the overnight shift from Sunday to Thursday.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repair to Utility Plant water chillers of up to 2,000 tons and associated equipment.
  • Assist with advanced repairs, overhaul, disassembly, reassembly, and modification to Utility Plant water chillers, pumps, and fans.
  • Help troubleshoot and provide input on control sequence for operation of chillers and associated equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Work in a safe manner and keep up with OSHA standards and all other applicable federal regulations.
  • Complete preventative maintenance orders, work orders, and document work performed.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with department personnel and management regarding chiller plant operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Follow scheduled maintenance plan and complete preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • One or more years of experience operating chillers sized 500 tons and up including cooling towers and associated equipment.
  • A working knowledge of related application software.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Word, Asset Works (AiM work management software), and Buildings Control Systems (Seimens, ALC, Delta).
  • A working knowledge of chiller, pump, and cooling tower control schematics.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience operating HVAC equipment.
  • Graduation from an accredited HVAC technical school or equivalent experience.
  • May require a valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.

Additional Information

  • Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option.
