The Machinist Mechanic role involves providing manual machinist and mechanical maintenance support for power generation equipment in a dynamic and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manual machinist support of power generation equipment in the Central Repair Shop.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance to maintain equipment in an electrical generating power plant.
  • Recognize safety hazards and follow safety guidelines for personal and public protection.
  • Operate manual lathes, boring mills, and large manual horizontal boring machines.
  • Install, maintain, test, inspect, and repair generating station equipment.
  • Replace bearings, packing in pumps and valves, and other miscellaneous parts.
  • Work with apprentice mechanics to teach proper tool use and maintenance procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics, and grammar.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
  • 5 years of machinist experience required.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate company vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment and general industrial maintenance activities.
