Job Description

Overview

As a Surface Preparation Technician, you will utilize steam, detergents, acids, chemicals, blast media and automated equipment to completely clean and prepare engine, APU, and landing gear parts for NDT inspections and repairs. This role requires learning all processes within the shop and may involve changing shifts to support maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize steam, detergents, acids, chemicals, blast media and automated equipment for cleaning and preparing parts.
  • Learn all processes and functions within the shop.
  • Assist with other functions when necessary.
  • Work both inside and outside depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be classified as a permanent full-time employee in Department 271 for a minimum of one year.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in shop operations as outlined by SOJTs.
  • Practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes.
  • Read and write English and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Meet physical requirements including the ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Possess a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in the present position.
  • Must be a team player and a self-starter.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
