Overview

This position at Sargent & Lundy offers a hybrid work schedule and involves working with multi-disciplined engineering teams to develop mechanical layout drawings in a 3-D model for nuclear power projects. The role includes design, troubleshooting, and mentoring responsibilities within the mechanical design team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical physical layout drawings in a 3-D model.
  • Design mechanical systems and troubleshoot various mechanical design issues.
  • Utilize 3D modeling software to generate mechanical design schematics.
  • Act as the Mechanical design team lead during detailed design phases.
  • Coordinate and guide other designers and project team members.
  • Independently plan and execute design deliverables.
  • Conduct field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
  • Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
  • Assist experienced designers on walkdowns to gather information.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of detailed design experience in mechanical plant design.
  • Experience with SmartPlant S3D modeling software.
  • Understanding of SPID, SPF, and S3D integration aspects.
  • Experience in clash detection resolution and discrepancy checks.
  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines.
