Overview

The Building Engineer - Union position involves the operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of various building mechanical systems. The company provides comprehensive mechanical and facilities services, utilizing advanced technology to deliver effective solutions and maintain long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, replace, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Install electrical circuits.
  • Repair restroom fixtures and plumbing systems.
  • Drain and 'safe off' systems for repairs.
  • Perform minor carpentry tasks and replace ceiling tiles.
  • Perform minor electrical tasks including bulb and ballast replacement.
  • Clean coils in air handling units to maintain heat exchange.
  • Assemble, install, repair, and maintain chilled and hot water systems.
  • Inspect and operate emergency generators and associated components.
  • Requisition materials for repairs.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance duties.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical systems and write reports.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Trades or Trade School certification in HVAC, Electrical, Hydraulics, or Plumbing.
  • Minimum of five years experience in central plant equipment operation.
  • Proven ability to repair building electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Experience in safely securing hydronic and electrical systems for maintenance.
  • Ability to braze/solder copper pipe and thread black pipe.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Strong knowledge of building auxiliary systems.
  • Familiarity with general building systems.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices for maintenance operations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
