Overview

The Millwright Helper assists skilled craftspersons by performing supportive duties under immediate supervision. Responsibilities vary based on experience and assigned job step.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, and align machinery.
  • Assist with inventory verification of equipment and machine components.
  • Prepare foundations for grouting and machinery placement.
  • Help skilled craftsman torque equipment and machinery.
  • Rig equipment and machinery and direct crane operators.
  • Test installed machinery and equipment, making adjustments and repairs as necessary.
  • Dismantle machines using various hand tools.
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists and dollies.
  • Assist with assembly and installation of equipment according to project specifications.

Requirements

  • May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in the field or related area is preferred.
  • Must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand and communicate written and oral instructions effectively.
  • Field experience in chosen craft discipline is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

  • Able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Must observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
