Overview

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is seeking a Machinist for their East Chicago, Indiana operation. The ideal candidate should be safety-focused, quality-driven, and experienced in producing precision parts while supporting on-time delivery and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines to produce parts per specifications.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Fit and assemble machined parts and dismantle mill maintenance equipment.
• Operate pendant, remote crane, and lift truck as necessary.
• Perform any layout work of parts as required.
• Calculate and determine dimensions, tapers, indices, and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.
• Measure and inspect parts using precision instruments.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4 years of proven machinist experience in a job shop or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Have earned a high school diploma, GED, or equivalency from an accredited institution.
• Be able to work full-time, including rotating shifts, and weekends.
• Must pass required testing.
• Applicants must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
