Overview

The Track Worker position at Staten Island Railway involves maintaining, installing, inspecting, testing, altering, and repairing subway and elevated service tracks under supervision. This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and handling heavy tools and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, install, inspect, test, alter, and repair the track and roadway in subway and elevated service.
  • Perform associated adjusting, tamping, welding, grinding, greasing, and cleaning.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift heavy tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Walk along the trackway where tripping hazards are present.
  • Distinguish between different colored lighted signals and flags.
  • Drive large spikes in with mauls and pull spikes out with claw bars.
  • Work in a noisy environment near high-voltage rails and moving trains.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license free from violations and restrictions.
  • Must have a valid CDL-B driver’s license free from violations and restrictions.
  • Must be able to work as a team and independently.
  • Must be able to work various days, shifts, and locations.
  • Must pass a medical and lab exam as this is a safety sensitive position.
