Overview

Moran Towing Corporation has an opportunity for an Assistant Engineer for Moran Transportation. This full-time position involves assisting with the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of machinery and associated systems on board vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to policies and procedures in the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Liaise with off-going engineers to become familiar with machinery and equipment.
  • Keep the Chief Engineer informed of unusual conditions requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Maintain accurate Engine Log, Oil Record Book, and maintenance records.
  • Assist with monthly fuel and lube oil reporting requirements.
  • Assist with loading, use, and transfer of fuel oil and other liquids.
  • Monitor the quality and condition of spare parts and engineering supplies.
  • Assist onboard the barge as directed by the Chief Engineer or Captain.
  • Complete general and planned maintenance tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3rd Assistant Engineer Unlimited Oceans or equivalent certification.
  • STCW endorsement as Chief Engineer or OICEW and other required STCW endorsements.
  • Current Medical Certificate.
  • Valid passport.
  • Valid TWIC.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a maritime or related field (preferred).
  • 1-2 years sea going experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (preferred).
