Overview

The Welder/Fitter performs fitting, fabrication, assembly, and welding operations in a production environment, ensuring components are aligned and welded according to specifications. MiTek is a platform innovator in the building industry, providing solutions that enhance efficiency in construction.

Responsibilities

• Perform fitting, fabrication, assembly, and welding operations.
• Read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications.
• Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using measuring equipment.
• Perform layout, fit-up, alignment, and assembly of components.
• Set up and operate welding equipment with proper settings.
• Select appropriate electrodes, welding wire, and consumables.
• Position, clamp, and tack weld parts for alignment.
• Adjust gas mixtures and pressures for cutting and welding.
• Guide electrodes or welding guns along weld lines.
• Weld components according to specifications.
• Examine welds for quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Repair defective welds and perform rework as needed.
• Operate grinders and fabrication tools for finishing.
• Identify and report discrepancies in materials or quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular attendance and work overtime as required.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• One to three years of welding, fitting, fabrication, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience reading blueprints and performing fit-up of assemblies preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information effectively.
• Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
