Overview

Allan Myers is a leading self-performing heavy civil construction and construction materials company that builds infrastructure such as highways, bridges, and public water systems. The Paving Mechanic role involves repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist equipment technicians or service personnel with technical support.
  • Develop quick and accurate communication with field personnel and dispatch.
  • Assure quality of repairs to minimize recall or duplicate work.
  • Assure compliance with all governmental and company safety policies.
  • Comply with Human Resources policies.
  • Review shop tool requirements to work more efficiently.
  • Observe and report any deficiencies to improve the PM program.
  • Participate in technical training and pass on knowledge to other mechanics.
  • Work closely with Field Services Dispatcher and parts personnel for timely parts delivery.
  • Collaborate with Internal Department, Field Managers, Superintendents, and Field Mechanics.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly service truck.
  • Stay within hours of service regulations.
  • Comply with all Trimble/Telogis regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • 1 year field experience repairing heavy construction equipment required.
  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Knowledgeable with components of heavy construction machinery.
  • Possess diagnostic capabilities with hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
  • Ability to make repair decisions quickly and rationally.
  • Expected to keep all sensitive material confidential.
  • Ability to arrange schedules and make parts orders.
  • Ability to give and receive written or oral instructions.
  • Must have ability to work independently and safely.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change.
  • Knowledge/Experience with Caterpillar Et/SIS, Volvo Prosis/tech tool, Cummins InSite.
  • Basic skills in OXY/Acetylene torch.
  • Basic Stick Welding 7018, 6010.

  • This position will be hourly and require overtime as needed.
