Overview

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking skilled Laborers for their 2nd shift to contribute to the production of quality mechanical power transmission components and custom forgings. The company values precision and innovation in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow production instructions by interpreting process sheets, blueprints, and supervisor instructions.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, masking, plugging, or blocking surfaces not to be coated.
• Apply coatings precisely to stock and custom parts, avoiding overspray and ensuring even coverage.
• Inspect parts for stenciling accuracy and defects, performing patching and grinding as needed.
• Ensure a quality finish by achieving smooth, even coating free of runs, pinholes, or bare spots.
• Adhere to safety protocols by following all safety guidelines and wearing required PPE.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning and maintaining spray booths, application equipment, filters, and tanks.
• Manage inventory to ensure necessary painting and coating supplies are stocked.
• Transfer finished parts to the final inspection or shipping area.
• Safely operate a forklift to transport materials within the plant.
• Provide assembly support using powered and manual hand tools.
• Inspect finished parts for quality assurance before advancing them to the next department.
• Safely handle materials by maneuvering large or heavy parts manually or with crane assistance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.
• Perform additional support duties in various departments as assigned.

Requirements

• Average math skills and ability to read and comprehend instructions in English.
• Skilled in operating various hand and power tools in a manufacturing setting.
• Proven experience operating forklifts safely in a production environment.
• Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16th of an inch; blueprint reading experience is a plus.
• Capable of performing simple calculations and completing basic logs and reports in English.
• Able to lift, push, pull, and position heavy items regularly throughout the shift.
• Reliable in working scheduled hours and adhering to timekeeping policies.
• Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment and performing repetitive tasks.
• Ability to work well with others and maintain accuracy in daily tasks.
