Overview

Worley is a global company specializing in energy, chemicals, and resources, providing consulting, engineering, procurement, and construction services. The Piping Designer Level I role involves delivering piping design services and technical support within the piping design team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver piping design services that meet specifications on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and develop piping design deliverables according to project requirements and company standards.
  • Develop 3D models, piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and piping isometrics.
  • Participate in meetings, prepare progress updates, and follow checking procedures.
  • Ensure project scope is understood and design changes comply with change management processes.
  • Support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities through design deliverables.
  • Coordinate with engineers and designers for effective integration of piping design requirements.
  • Act as the Lead Piping Designer on specific projects if required.
  • Outline project requirements, assign tasks, and supervise design progress if responsible for a team.
  • Proactively resolve discrepancies between Worley and customer requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards and technological developments related to piping design.
  • Assist and support junior designers as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
  • Identify issues, develop solutions, and seek assistance when required.

Requirements

  • Strong technical and practical piping design skills.
  • Sound knowledge of piping design and drafting practices.
  • Understanding of related engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in piping design software including AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, SmartPlant 3D, and E3D/PDMS.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Practical experience in piping design within the refining, petrochemical, oil and gas industries.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in piping design.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience supporting petrochemical and refining projects.
  • On-site and/or refinery experience preferred.

  • This role is based in Long Beach, California and is not eligible for remote work.
  • May be required to travel to vendor facilities and project sites.
