Overview

Worley is a global company specializing in energy, chemicals, and resources, providing consulting, engineering, procurement, and construction services. The Piping Designer Level II role involves delivering piping design services and technical support within the piping design team in Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver piping design services that meet specifications on time and within budget.
  • Develop and prepare piping design deliverables in support of project requirements.
  • Participate in meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow quality control procedures.
  • Ensure project scope clarity and compliance with change management processes.
  • Provide support during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and maintain 3D models, equipment layouts, piping arrangements, and construction drawings.
  • Act as the Lead Piping Designer on specific projects if required.
  • Outline project requirements, assign tasks, and supervise progress if responsible for a team.
  • Proactively resolve discrepancies between Worley and customer requirements.
  • Keep up to date with developments in piping design.
  • Assist and support junior designers and drafting personnel as required.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
  • Identify issues, develop practical solutions, and seek assistance when required.

Requirements

  • Strong technical and practical piping design skills.
  • Sound knowledge of fundamental principles of piping design and drafting practices.
  • Understanding of basic requirements of other engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of applicable local and international codes and standards.
  • Proficient in piping design software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, SmartPlant 3D, and E3D/PDMS.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Substantial practical experience in piping design within the petrochemical, refining, oil and gas, or related industries.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary project environments.
