Overview

L3Harris is seeking a 2nd Shift Shop Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of their machine shop, Sheetmetal shop, and Weld Shop in Norfolk, VA. The company is committed to recruiting high-performing talent and providing an inclusive environment focused on professional growth and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of Fabrication shop personnel, including machinists, welders, and technicians.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and production targets.
  • Monitor and track key performance metrics, including productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained and operating efficiently.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and other departments to resolve production issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, material usage, and labor hours.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Fabrication shop environment.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes including machining and welding.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
