Overview

A manufacturing and test engineering organization is seeking an Electrical and Mechanical Technician for a 6-month contract in Newark, New Jersey. The role involves supporting electronic test systems in laboratory and production environments, requiring travel across the United States and Canada for equipment deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Support electronic test equipment in laboratory and production environments.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain complex test equipment.
  • Work across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and coolant systems.
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to diagnose issues.
  • Complete repairs and ensure reliable equipment performance.
  • Document activities and communicate cross-functionally.
  • Travel for equipment deployment and project support.

Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree or 4 years of equivalent hands-on technical experience.
  • Experience supporting equipment in laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and coolant system troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and common hand tools.
  • Ability to read wiring schematics, technical procedures, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience diagnosing motors, actuators, motion control systems, and related components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently or with remote technical guidance.
  • Willingness to travel within the United States and Canada as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing at least 25 pounds.
