Overview

The Machine Operator I position involves independently setting up, operating, and troubleshooting various machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols while achieving production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, thread material through, and operate one machine independently.
  • Follow daily manufacturing work orders with attention to materials and specific notations.
  • Assist with the operation of other machinery under close supervision.
  • Assist with packaging at the end of the line as needed.
  • Band and palletize metal coils and/or sheets and place tags/labels on finished products.
  • Perform quality checks to verify proper lengths, widths, and weights using the proper tools.
  • Achieve production goals while complying with all safety requirements.
  • Mount and adjust slitter knives, spaces, and guide discs for specified coil widths.
  • Adjust machinery using monitoring equipment feedback and perform quality control methods.
  • Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and daily equipment inspection.
  • Keep work area in an orderly condition.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of six months of experience.
  • Able to safely operate a sit-down forklift; training will be provided.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices and possess great attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Good communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Basic computer, mathematics, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as gauges, tapes, and rulers.
  • Team player that can follow instructions from management and peers.
  • Ability to learn and operate new equipment.

  • Working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
  • 40 hours per week; flexible to the possibility of overtime and weekend hours.
