Overview

The Welder - Combo position involves using various manual welding processes to weld metals and alloys of different sizes and types. The role requires ensuring weld quality and compliance with specifications while working in diverse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Weld all types of commonly used metals and alloys using accepted trade methods.
  • Perform non-supervisory welding work on metals and alloys.
  • Apply electric, gas, and other welding processes to manufacture and repair metal parts.
  • Determine appropriate welding techniques and select proper materials.
  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Perform difficult welds in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Ensure welds meet specifications for fit, contour, and smoothness.
  • Inspect completed welds for cracks, slag, or other defects.
  • Ensure welds meet accepted trade standards and pass required inspections.

Requirements

  • No formal education required.
  • Experience performing welding using multiple gas and arc welding processes.
  • OSHA-10 certification is required, with an opportunity to take the course prior to employment.
  • Knowledge of gas welding torch processes and arc welding processes.
  • Understanding of how various metals and alloys react to different welding processes.
  • Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to meet strict tolerances and specifications.
  • Ability to perform work in a variety of environments and conditions.
