Overview

The Quality Assurance Technician (NDE/NDT Tech) is responsible for testing, inspecting, and approving products at various stages of production to ensure quality and reliability. The role includes interpreting engineering specifications, conducting tests, recording data, and training new personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets engineering drawings and confers with management to determine quality standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process.
  • Tests products for various qualities such as dimensions and performance.
  • Records test data according to standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports on deviations from standards.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials.
  • Enters data into the computer for analysis.
  • Observes in-process operations to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Performs visual inspections of finished goods.
  • May calibrate lab equipment to meet legal and manufacturing requirements.
  • Coordinates calibrations of production equipment and QA tests.
  • Assists in training new personnel in QA functions.
  • Performs other duties as instructed by supervision.

  • Must be able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables.
  • Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
