The Stationary Engineer position at Abington involves maintaining and operating stationary steam boilers and related equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. The role supports the Facilities department and is part of Jefferson Health, a nationally ranked healthcare provider.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates stationary steam boilers, pumps, and related equipment.
• Performs daily chemical water treatment of the boilers.
• Enforces safety rules and regulations to keep the boiler house safe.
• Cleans the boiler house and surrounding area to meet facilities standards.
• Performs general mechanical and minor electrical/HVAC work as needed.
• Interacts with co-workers and visitors consistent with Jefferson's values.
• Operates and maintains boilers and auxiliary systems by monitoring gauges.
• Starts, stops, adjusts, and regulates boilers for efficiency.
• Cleans boilers annually or as required to meet code requirements.
• Inspects boilers and equipment for leaks or defective parts.
• Maintains records of gauges and meter readings.
• Consults with Lead/Chief Stationary Engineers on activities and issues.
• Performs other maintenance tasks as directed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent vocational training.
• Understanding of electrical safety and lockout/tagout standards.
• Knowledge of safe practices in operations and maintenance.
• Ability to adapt to changes and new concepts.
• Knowledge of emergency preparedness and response.
• Knowledge of HSE policies and compliance.
