Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a Mold Maintenance Technician to support a busy Tooling Department at a well-established precision manufacturing company specializing in high-volume manufacturing and custom tooling. This role offers a hands-on opportunity for a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys troubleshooting equipment and maintaining production tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on multi-cavity plastic injection molds
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, lubricate and rebuild molds
  • Identify worn or damaged components and assist with repairs
  • Replace springs, pins, bushings, inserts and other tooling components
  • Assist Toolmakers with mold troubleshooting, repairs and modifications
  • Prepare molds for production and support mold changes
  • Read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
  • Use basic machine tools such as lathes, mills and grinders as needed
  • Maintain an organized tool room and accurate maintenance records
  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move and store molds
  • Follow safety and quality procedures and communicate tooling concerns

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance, repair, assembly or tooling preferred
  • Ability to disassemble and rebuild mechanical components
  • Comfortable reading blueprints and using measuring tools
  • Basic machine tool experience is a plus
  • Forklift experience preferred; ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift required
  • Willingness to learn injection mold maintenance and tooling processes
