Overview

As a Commercial Vehicle Upfitter, you will play a vital role in transforming chassis into fully functional work vehicles by installing specialized equipment and accessories, leveraging your technical expertise in mechanical assembly and electrical systems to ensure high standards of performance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the precise installation of service utility bodies, dump bodies, and stake bodies onto commercial chassis.
  • Integrate commercial truck accessories including hitches, ladder racks, shelving units, and drawer systems to optimize vehicle utility.
  • Perform complex electrical wiring and system routing to support auxiliary equipment functionality.
  • Utilize MIG and TIG welding techniques to fabricate and secure custom mounting solutions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently to ensure seamless vehicle operation.
  • Collaborate with the shop team to streamline installation processes and maintain high production throughput.
  • Adhere strictly to all workplace safety regulations and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in welding (MIG/TIG) on steel and aluminum.
  • Proven expertise in automotive or commercial vehicle electrical wiring.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and build from technical schematics.
  • Proficiency in the safe operation of various power and hand tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and independent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of complex hydraulic systems and their integration.
  • Previous experience in a commercial truck equipment or fleet maintenance environment.
  • Ability to mentor junior technicians on installation best practices.
