Overview

The Single Hand Pipe Welder is responsible for operating welding machines to join or connect various types of pipe and fittings in an oil and gas industry setting. Delta Constructors provides comprehensive construction, maintenance, and project management services across North America, specializing in both brownfield and greenfield projects for industries such as oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Reads blueprints, drawings and welding diagrams
  • Interprets isometric drawings and determines which specifications to apply
  • Operates hand and power tools common to welding such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc
  • Holds, clamps, heat-bends, tack-welds or bolts component parts
  • Ignites and installs torches and beveling machines within specifications
  • Welds using stainless steel, carbon steel and duplex materials
  • Maintains machines and inspects equipment to identify possible problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or Equivalent
  • Ability to pass a 2" SCH 160 carbon tig pipe test
  • Ability to pass a 1" full-pen structural 3g/4g plate test
  • Ability to pass a 6" structural flux-core with backing ring test
  • Current and valid driver's license, with clean driving record required depending on location

What you'll be running

This posting calls for TIG and Flux-Core work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process.
