Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Class is responsible for performing as a highly skilled maintenance person, participating in teams to develop and implement solutions while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Live the Owens Corning Safety Stand and meet all safety requirements.
  • Take personal ownership to work safely and hold team members to high safety standards.
  • Notify supervisor of any accidents, near misses, or on-the-job injuries.
  • Participate in safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM, and housekeeping programs.
  • Perform job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adhere to regulations.
  • Communicate safety concerns and equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Inspect vehicles before use and throughout the shift.
  • Participate in plant TPM initiatives and complete associated activities.
  • Utilize Focus Improvement tools to problem solve.
  • Install, modify, or maintain plant equipment.
  • Read, understand, and analyze blueprints and technical data.
  • Inspect plant equipment to identify potential problems.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and support training of colleagues.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Maintain a clean work area after job completion.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Five years in a related maintenance trade or occupation preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Basic PLC knowledge and ability to interpret instructions.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere.
  • Proficient in SAP PM Module.
  • Ability to work flexible rotating shift schedules.

Additional Information

  • Must remain drug free.
  • Ability to work in wet environments and exposure to dust/dirt/fumes.
  • Ability to wear applicable PPE for up to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull 40lbs repetitively.
