Overview

The Welder position involves performing manual welding on various types of stainless steels under supervision. The role requires interpreting engineering specifications and ensuring product conformance while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of approved welding techniques to required tolerances per engineering specifications.
  • Read, interpret and understand product and process drawings, procedures, weld symbols, and quality requirements.
  • Make adjustments to fine-tune the welding process to achieve product conformance.
  • Document and log all parts and maintain required paperwork accurately.
  • Inspect and appropriately process all work performed.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in an organized, clean and FOD-free manner.
  • Obtain and maintain all required qualifications and certifications in stainless steels and Inconel.
  • Follow appropriate procedures and observe all safety rules.
  • Maintain knowledge and ability levels to efficiently perform all assigned work.
  • Implement lean initiatives by identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and one to three years of verifiable welding experience.
  • Experience with TIG welding for stainless, Inconel, and titanium is required.
  • Completion of welding training program through vocational school or apprenticeship is desired.
  • Must be AWS D17.1 certified within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to complete gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) of stainless steels.
  • Ability to successfully complete rework in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to weld components from mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various stainless steel alloys.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read, write and understand instructions, procedures, drawings and blueprints.
  • Must be able to successfully weld Type 321 stainless steel thin wall tubing.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a vision exam to acceptable standards.
  • Able to effectively apply lean initiatives.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Interprets reports and uses job specific software applications.
