Overview

The Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) Erector is responsible for safely assembling, erecting, and installing structural steel systems and related building components for Southwest Building Solutions projects, ensuring high-quality construction and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and erect pre-engineered metal building systems according to construction drawings and specifications.
• Install primary and secondary structural steel components.
• Install roof systems, wall panels, trim, insulation, doors, windows, and related components.
• Perform layout, alignment, and fastening of structural members.
• Verify proper fit and alignment during installation.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and erection plans.
• Assist with structural steel alignment, bolting, and final assembly.
• Safely guide structural components during crane operations.
• Assemble rigging and hoisting equipment following safety procedures.
• Assist with field modifications as approved by project leadership.
• Safely operate aerial lifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and telehandlers.
• Perform daily equipment inspections before operation.
• Report equipment deficiencies immediately.
• Secure and maintain company tools and equipment.
• Complete work according to company quality standards and project specifications.
• Verify installed components meet layout and installation requirements.
• Identify workmanship concerns and communicate issues to the Foreman.
• Participate in punch list completion and final quality inspections.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safety meetings.
• Identify unsafe conditions and report hazards immediately.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Load, unload, stage, and organize construction materials.
• Safely move materials using approved equipment and rigging methods.
• Protect materials from damage during storage and installation.
• Work effectively as a member of a field construction crew.
• Communicate professionally with team members and customers.
• Support fellow crew members to achieve project goals.
• Participate in company training and skills development opportunities.
• Learn new construction techniques and installation methods.
• Cross-train in additional field responsibilities.

Additional Information

• This position operates primarily on active construction jobsites throughout Arizona.
• The PEMB Erector works closely with Foremen, Assistant Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers, and fellow field personnel.
