Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine and emergency maintenance on machinery and equipment in a manufacturing setting at our Elgen facility in Closter, NJ. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying potential issues, resolving mechanical problems, and ensuring all equipment is operating efficiently to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety standards and procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating, cleaning, and adjusting machinery.
  • Quickly diagnose and repair mechanical issues with machines, equipment, and systems.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of mechanical parts and tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Work with production and engineering teams to identify areas for improvement.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls during off-hours as needed.

Requirements

  • High School/GED required.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance strategies and machinery repair best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and ability to document maintenance activities accurately.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Vocational or technical training in maintenance or related field.
  • Certification in welding, hydraulics, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Additional Information

  • The position is on 2nd shift Monday to Friday from 2PM to 10:30PM.
  • Pay is $30 - $35 per hour.
