Overview

The M2 Bradley Hull Welder and Fabricator is responsible for welding, metal repair, fabrication, and fit-up work in support of M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle hull refurbishment and rebuild activities, focusing on aluminum hull structures and associated steel components.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect assigned hull areas and components for defects and confirm authorized repair scope before starting work.
  • Perform aluminum MIG welding and other welding processes as required by approved WPS.
  • Complete authorized steel welding and fabrication on hull-associated components.
  • Prepare surfaces and perform joint preparation and fit-up according to repair instructions.
  • Cut, form, fit, and fabricate authorized replacement components from approved materials.
  • Use approved fixtures and tools to maintain alignment and dimensions during repair and fabrication.
  • Follow approved WPS for consumables, equipment settings, and welding sequence.
  • Repair approved cracks and damaged welds within assigned qualifications.
  • Protect adjacent components and coordinate with maintenance and safety personnel.
  • Perform visual checks and present work to QC at required hold points.
  • Support required nondestructive testing and correct documented weld defects under approved instructions.
  • Maintain material identification, qualification records, and inspection traceability.
  • Operate welding and handling equipment only when trained and authorized.
  • Follow safety and environmental requirements and maintain a safe work area.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience.
  • Formal welding training, apprenticeship, or equivalent military or civilian experience.
  • Documented welder performance qualifications accepted by the customer.
  • Ability to work to applicable customer welding requirements.
  • Proficiency in aluminum MIG welding, steel fabrication, and distortion control.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and approved repair instructions.
  • Ability to identify materials and maintain required traceability.
  • Ability to recognize visible weld defects and complete repair records accurately.
  • Ability to meet customer and site access requirements and pass background checks.

Additional Information

  • Ability to perform essential duties including climbing and working in restricted areas.
  • Ability to handle loads of up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds intermittently.
  • Ability to work in environments involving heat, sparks, welding fumes, and noise.
  • Ability to work the assigned contract schedule, including shifts and overtime.
