Job Description

Overview

Oliver Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Equipment Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair printing presses and related manufacturing equipment. This hands-on role involves troubleshooting, rebuilding, precision machining, welding, and continuous improvement to ensure peak reliability of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair printing presses and other plant machinery.
  • Partner with supervisors and production teams to diagnose performance issues and restore uptime.
  • Identify mechanical faults and determine the most effective repair approach.
  • Rebuild machines, subassemblies, and components as needed.
  • Research, recommend, and implement reliability upgrades to reduce failures.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and vendors on failures, parts, and recommended fixes or enhancements.
  • Decide when repairs are best completed in-house versus outsourced.
  • Manage spare parts inventory; source suppliers based on availability, quality, and cost.
  • Design, machine, weld, and fabricate custom parts and fixtures.
  • Perform various welding processes; operate a lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, drill press, and other shop equipment.
  • Support general facility maintenance needs, including carpentry and related tasks.
  • Respond to issues and emergencies during assigned shift hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of mechanical experience, preferably in manufacturing or an industrial setting.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems, machinery, and maintenance practices.
  • Proven mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving strengths.
  • Hands-on experience repairing and rebuilding industrial/manufacturing equipment.
  • Machining, welding, and fabrication experience.
  • Proficiency with a lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, and drill press.
  • Ability to perform various types of welding.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required certifications for electrical work.
  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, manuals, and related documentation.
  • Clear communicator able to partner with production staff, supervisors, vendors, and OEMs.
  • Comfort with math applicable to maintenance work (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, area, circumference, volume).
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues, gather facts, and choose sound solutions.
  • Self-directed with the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance and repair needs.

Additional Information

  • Full-time, 1st shift.
  • Occasional response to equipment emergencies may be required based on operational needs.
