Overview

Braskem is a leading producer of polypropylene in the United States, focused on sustainability and innovation in the chemicals and plastics industry. The Maintenance Engineer will provide engineering support to the Maintenance & Operations Organizations, ensuring the effective execution of maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to planners in the development of work orders for day-to-day execution
  • Utilize mechanical knowledge to support complex troubleshooting of equipment issues
  • Create MOC for plant equipment modification
  • Provide oversight for predictive maintenance programs including vibration, thermography, lubrication analysis, and ultrasonics
  • Conduct field oversight of PM efficacy and adjust PMs as needed
  • Implement reliability best practices
  • Develop and optimize preventive maintenance tasks, and support maintenance activities
  • Perform equipment repairs, including issuing ITPs as required
  • Manage capital equipment replacements or overhauls
  • Conduct root cause investigations of mechanical equipment failures
  • Review and respond to feedback from the work execution team

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, or chemical process
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for effective communication
  • Understanding of business drivers, change management requirements, reliability processes, and maintenance workflows
  • Basic proficiency in industry codes and standards (i.e., API, ASME)
  • Knowledge of Predictive and Preventive Maintenance concepts
  • Ability to apply computer software tools (SAP, Microsoft Office, Meridium)
  • Excellent communication skills and strong leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of sound engineering practices and principles relating to mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment design, installation, and maintenance
