Job Description

Overview

At HDR, employee-owners create a welcoming environment where everyone is valued and respected. The Civil/Structural Construction Inspector role involves supporting transportation infrastructure projects that enhance community connectivity and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for transportation infrastructure, buildings, and facilities.
  • Conduct inspection of site civil and structural field work.
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects.
  • Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, performing in-place soil compaction testing, asphalt testing, etc.
  • Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of construction inspection of major transportation/infrastructure projects for public agencies, such as PANYNJ, MTA, NJTA, and NJDOT.
  • Excellent Organizational and communication skills.
  • PE license in New York or New Jersey.
  • OSHA 30-hour training.
  • ACI Concrete Special Inspection and ICC Structural Steel and Bolting certifications.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to being an active participant of the employee-owned culture.
