Overview

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Substation Structural Engineer for their Power Delivery Substation Civil/Structural Group, with opportunities in multiple locations including Freeport, ME, and New York, NY. This role involves supporting the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering solutions for electrical substation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to technical staff and project managers for structural engineering solutions.
  • Assist with research, design, concept development, and construction of load-bearing structures.
  • Generate accurate reports and documentation regarding installations and construction specifications.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data from various sources for project development.
  • Conduct research and inspections of site conditions to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist in developing technologies and design requirements for safety and functionality.
  • Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions.
  • Assist with risk identification and assessment in project design and construction.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on project execution.
  • Prepare work plans and coordinate site work.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineers and professionals on various improvement projects.
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Strong understanding of relevant construction laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety policies.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as needed.
