Overview

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Designer to join their team, contributing to project success by establishing and improving design standards and tools. The ideal candidate will have a technical school degree in Computer Aided Design and significant structural design experience, preferably with Tekla.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with design team members to review and exchange project information.
  • Check design for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements.
  • Report task progress to Lead Designer.
  • Gather information and collaborate with engineers to develop BIM models.
  • Leverage BIM to create plans, drawings, and details.
  • Assist in developing department standards and tools.
  • Mentor team members in design and modeling techniques.
  • Resolve design issues with input from responsible engineers.

Requirements

  • Completion of a vocational training program in Computer Aided Design.
  • 10+ years of structural design experience using Tekla.
  • Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
  • Leadership skills to monitor peers with less experience.
  • Basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.

  • This position can be based in Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
  • Regular, reliable attendance is required.
