Job Description

Overview

The Welder position involves joining metals using GTAW and GMAW welding processes and cutting metals with Oxy-Fuel or plasma Arc cutting equipment. Candidates must be proficient in welding thin gage aluminum and capable of passing various welding tests according to AWS codes and Military Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receive instructions verbally or from job cards and/or detailed prints.
  • Perform up to three types of welding processes, including GMAW & GTAW.
  • Read and understand blueprints and associated welding symbols.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Assist with and/or construct welding jigs and fixtures.
  • Select proper welding parameters and electrodes/filler metals.
  • Perform tack welding and use Oxygen/Fuel torch for heating and cutting.
  • Chip, grind, and clean welds as necessary.
  • Perform tasks associated with welding, such as joining preparation and inspection of completed welds.
  • Check work using test equipment.
  • Aid in designing and debugging new welding fixtures.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years minimum related experience.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills required.
