Overview

Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America. The Fitter and Welder position involves welding and fitting skills, ensuring safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Competent in welding and fitting skills with special certifications for pipe, tube, and CJP scenarios.
  • Fit up all types of rigid frame columns, rafters, and beam canopies according to specifications.
  • Understand all safety rules and precautions necessary for a manufacturing environment.
  • Achieve and maintain AWS and CWB certifications.
  • Check work assignments and interpret blueprints and/or sketches to determine parts required.
  • Measure, mark, count, and locate components on/in an assembly.
  • Advise Team Leader of any discrepancies in and/or shortages of required parts.
  • Position sub-assemblies using clamping devices and material handling equipment.
  • Use necessary tools and measuring devices to join parts according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Weld components in place using welding, flame cutting, flame-heating, arc gouging, or mechanical equipment.
  • Align parts and bevel or cut flanges, webs, and stiffeners as required.
  • Install metal tags to identify parts and use assigned personal identification stamp.
  • Maintain continuous improvement practices in work area.
  • May be assigned other projects or duties as designated by Team Leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience welding and fitting in a production environment or valid welding certification.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification.
  • Experience with forklift and/or overhead crane operation is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.
