Overview

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a Maintainer (Electrical) to be responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment, including lighting, power, and HVAC motors. The Met is committed to fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment with a diverse staff dedicated to creating an inspiring art museum experience.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and maintenance of switches, breakers, panels, receptacles, lighting fixtures, dimmer system and other electrical apparatus.
  • Trouble-shoot electrical shorts, motors, and motor controls.
  • Pipe bending and installing EMT, conduit, wire mold and BX.
  • Maintain and clean electrical rooms, service rooms and shop.
  • Other related duties.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools, pipe bending, and circuitry.
  • Basic knowledge of national and New York City electrical codes.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience with a licensed electrical contractor.
  • Work safely on ladders and scissor lifts, and the ability to work in high places.
  • High school or trade school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of Ohm's law and basic electrical circuitry.

  • Day Shift: Sunday - Thursday.
  • Employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum.
