Overview

Toll International LLC is a minority-owned construction and engineering consulting firm specializing in program management, project controls, construction inspection, and infrastructure advisory services. They are seeking a Bridge Painting Inspector to support bridge-painting work on various Long Island Rail Road structures throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify surface preparation and bridge-painting work.
  • Perform visual and physical inspections of surface cleaning, preparation, and coating-system installation in accordance with AMPP requirements.
  • Verify contractor submittals, including certified payrolls, M/W/DBE updates, schedules, payment requisitions, work plans, and shop drawings.
  • Review contractor and consultant invoices in coordination with senior field inspectors.
  • Prepare accurate daily inspection reports in Manual for Uniform Record Keeping format.
  • Document completed work and promptly report deficiencies, nonconformities, safety concerns, and other conditions requiring immediate attention.
  • Verify compliance with contract documents, safety requirements, quality plans, and LIRR procedures.
  • Read and interpret specifications, construction plans, containment drawings, and Maintenance and Protection of Traffic drawings.
  • Maintain project documentation using the required electronic filing system and Project Management Information System.
  • Coordinate with contractors and LIRR personnel regarding flag protection, track outages, and foul-time requirements.
  • Travel between project sites and safely navigate active construction environments.
  • Attend MTA-provided Roadway Worker Protection training and maintain certification throughout the assignment.

Requirements

  • At least three years of relevant experience in bridge painting, construction, and inspection.
  • At least three years of experience verifying completed construction work.
  • At least three years of experience inspecting surface cleaning, surface preparation, and coating-system installation in accordance with AMPP requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting contract specifications, construction plans, containment drawings, and MPT drawings.
  • A current AMPP Coatings Inspector Program Level I certification or Bridge Coatings Inspector Level I certification.
  • OSHA 30 training completed within the past five years.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel promptly between sites in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
  • Ability to work safely around railroad tracks, ballast, embankments, elevated platforms, and other active construction conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Availability for occasional night and weekend assignments.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time, on-site contract assignment anticipated to provide approximately 4,160 hours of work over 24 months.
  • The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Night and weekend work may occasionally be required.
