Overview

Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America. The Welder position involves working in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities including welding, training, and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Understand safety rules and precautions for a manufacturing environment.
  • Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel, and gas flow.
  • Read tape measures and blueprints to shop standards.
  • Decide on adjustments or gun manipulation as needed.
  • Determine repairs for pin holes and burn-through from auto welders.
  • Train and teach proper welding procedures.
  • Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment.
  • Maintain specified shapes, sizes, and penetrations of welds.
  • Keep numerical and alphabetical sequences correct.
  • Practice continuous improvement in the work area.
  • May be assigned other projects and duties by the Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school, or 1 to 3 years of welding experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Comprehend documents including policy manuals and safety rules.
  • Effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Perform general mathematical calculations.
  • Required to use power hand tools.
  • Required to drive a forklift.
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Read different measuring devices like tape measures and protractors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually.
