Overview

Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America. The Fitter and Welder position involves welding and fitting skills, with a base pay rate of $21.50 per hour and potential for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Competent in welding and fitting skills with special certifications.
• Fit up all types of rigid frame columns, rafters, and beam canopies according to specifications.
• Understand safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Achieve and maintain AWS and CWB certifications.
• Check work assignments and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Measure, mark, count, and locate components in an assembly.
• Position sub-assemblies using clamping devices and material handling equipment.
• Use tools and measuring devices to join parts according to blueprints.
• Weld components in place using various welding and cutting techniques.
• Install metal tags to identify parts and use personal identification stamps.
• Maintain numerical and alphabetical sequences.
• Practice continuous improvement in the work area.
• May be assigned other projects or duties by the Team Leader.

Requirements

• Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school, or 1 to 3 years of welding experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Comprehend documents including policy manuals and safety rules.
• Effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Perform general mathematical calculations.
• Required to use power hand tools and drive a forklift.
• Ability to meet deadlines effectively.
• Read various measuring devices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously.
