Overview

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Overhaul Technician for the 2nd shift to join a global team dedicated to building a better world through innovation and collaboration. This role involves the assembly of overhauled turbomachinery products in a safe and effective manner, utilizing standard production applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly or disassembly of gas turbine engines and sub-assemblies.
  • Work from standard work instructions, engineering drawings, and oral instructions.
  • Recognize the need for Engineering support when procedures are inadequate.
  • Embrace safety culture and identify safety improvements.
  • Collaborate with team members and Engineering to solve technical problems.
  • Maintain training binder and records.
  • Perform material routing and movement of turbine components.
  • Report discrepancies and incidents using standard applications.
  • Maintain records and documentation per the Quality Management System.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and shop equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean workspace to promote safety and prevent FOD.
  • Support production needs and continuous improvement projects.
  • Participate in team meetings and support team business goals.
  • Work required hours to meet production and customer needs.
  • Demonstrate skill with precision measuring equipment.
  • Operate shop and material handling equipment.
  • Perform rework as needed.
  • Flex within the value stream and learn all operations/models.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or trade school certificate.
  • Minimum two years hands-on mechanical/turbomachinery experience.
  • Minimum two years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment and precision measuring instruments.
  • Previous mechanical experience and familiarity with hand tools.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and work specifications.
  • Must have ability to read micrometers and other precision-measuring instruments.
  • Must be flexible to change shifts during peak production timeframes.
  • Ability to lift/move parts weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new software.
