Job Description

Overview

As a Mobile Technician II at J.B. Hunt, you will be responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of tractors, trailers, and other equipment at customer sites using a mobile service truck. This role requires a combination of technical skills and the ability to work outdoors under routine supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs on tractor or trailer equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair ABS system.
  • Properly operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
  • Assist with onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees.
  • Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations.
  • Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
  • Document damage to company equipment to estimate repair costs.
  • Use cutting torch and welding equipment for mid-level repairs.
  • Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs.
  • Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years for equipment over 10,000 lbs.
  • 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines.
  • Ability to supply basic tools or purchase through toolbox program.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
