Overview

Svitzer is seeking a Chief Engineer to join a diverse team in a unique work environment that prioritizes safety and offers opportunities for growth, learning, and development. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and reliability of the engine room and equipment onboard.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance procedures of the main machines.
  • Manage power generation plants and auxiliary equipment inside the machine room and on deck.
  • Ensure efficiency in the operation of all mechanical equipment inside the tugboats.

Requirements

  • More than 2 years of experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Technical degree in Industrial Mechanic, Diesel/Hydraulic or related fields preferred.
  • Ability to perform Level I maintenance on equipment.
  • Basic knowledge in multi-meter use, fuel and water probe use, and calculations for fuel and water.
  • Proficient in the appropriate use of paints, oils analysis, heat gun, manometers, and thermometers.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
