Overview

The M1 Abrams Tank is the backbone of the armored forces, and as the M1 Abrams Tank System Maintainer in the Army National Guard, you will be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance on these tanks to ensure they remain operational.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Perform organizational maintenance and on-board direct support tasks on suspension systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, auxiliary power units, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, and gas particulate systems.
  • Perform organizational maintenance on vehicular mounted armament, gun turret drive system, and fire control system.

Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
  • Must meet citizenship requirements.
