Overview

MasTec Utility Services is a purpose-driven company that delivers critical infrastructure construction and engineering services for power delivery, gas, and water customers. The Welder is responsible for installing and welding natural gas steel pipelines and fittings, playing an integral role in the construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of natural gas distribution infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develops welding plan by analyzing print specs and determining appropriate welding techniques.
  • Operates company equipment safely.
  • Maintains safe work environment by following procedures and complying with safety standards.
  • Constructs components by using equipment to cut, clean, and weld after setting-up and measuring assemblies and selecting appropriate method.
  • Verifies welding results by inspecting and testing welds.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6-12 months of related experience in Construction or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather at times.
  • Ability to meet physical demands.
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for working toward company 'Zero Injury' principles.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Ability to understand units of force, pressure, and torque.
  • Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards.
  • Ability to work schedule Monday through Friday 7am - 5:30pm.
