Overview

The Groundman position at Yunex Traffic involves providing field support for the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of traffic signal systems and related infrastructure. This role requires a commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer service while working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals and street lighting systems.
  • Maintain street-level assets including controller cabinets and associated electrical equipment.
  • Excavate, trench, backfill, and restore project sites using hand tools and construction equipment.
  • Pull cable, fiber optic lines, and conduit for traffic signal and roadway lighting projects.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and other construction-related equipment.
  • Mix, pour, and finish concrete for various installations.
  • Assist with traffic signal head assembly and equipment mounting.
  • Operate or assist with bucket trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Establish and maintain work zone protections in accordance with safety standards.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize materials and equipment.
  • Perform routine housekeeping and maintenance of vehicles and job sites.
  • Participate in emergency callouts and on-call rotation as required.
  • Document work activities, materials used, and safety observations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum one to two years of experience in construction or related field operations.
  • Basic understanding of construction practices and utility infrastructure.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and traffic signal equipment preferred.
  • Proficient use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to safely perform excavation, trenching, and concrete work.
  • Effective verbal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Certification.
  • IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification preferred.

  • Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to vehicle traffic and construction activity.
  • May require night work, weekend work, and overtime.
  • Frequent travel throughout assigned service areas.
